The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can avert, 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 by which the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him in one Day which will last for fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient with gracious patience. 5 they see it as being far off; 6 but We see it near at hand. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 And the hills become as flakes of wool, 9 no loyal friend shall question loyal friend, 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 And his spouse and his brother. 12 and of all the kinsfolk who ever sheltered him, 13 And all that are in the earth, so that it might save him. 14 But no! There is a raging blaze 15 A remover of exteriors. 16 and it will claim all those who turned their backs [on the true faith] and turned away [from the truth], 17 and who accumulated wealth without spending it for a good purpose. 18 ۞ Surely man was created fretful, 19 When evil touches him, impatient, 20 If good comes to him he holds back his hand, 21 Except those who pray, 22 Those who remain steadfast to their prayer; 23 And those in whose wealth is a recognised right. 24 for those that ask and those that are dispossessed, 25 who confirm the Day of Doom 26 and go in fear of the chastisement of their Lord 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 And those who guard their private parts 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 And whosoever seeketh beyond that, then it is those who are the trespassers 31 And those who protect the property entrusted to them, and their agreements. 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 And those who guard their Salat (prayers) well. 34 They will be in gardens, honored. 35

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
