Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
