Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HaMeem. 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)." 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 who pay not the alms, and disbelieve in the world to come. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
