He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
