Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HA MIM. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 The verses of this Book have been fully expounded. It is a reading in the Arabic language for the people of knowledge. 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
