And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
