The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
