Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
