The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
