And remember Our servant Ayyub, when he called upon his Lord: The Shaitan has afflicted me with toil and torment. 41 (And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink. 42 We restored to him his family and like those with them, a mercy from Us and a reminder to a nation that understand. 43 And take in thine hand a handful of twigs, and strike therewith, and break not thine oath. Verily We! We found him patient. How excellent a bondman! Verily he was oft-returning. 44 And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision. 45 We indeed gave them distinction with a genuine affair – the remembrance of the (everlasting) abode. 46 And they are with Us, verily, of the chosen and the best! 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhu al-Kifl. All were of the best. 48 This is a reminder. And lo! for those who ward off (evil) is a happy journey's end, 49 the Gardens of eternity with gates thrown wide open to them. 50 Therein will they recline (at ease): Therein can they call (at pleasure) for fruit in abundance, and (delicious) drink; 51 ۞ having beside them well-matched mates of modest gaze." 52 This is the promise being given to you, for the Day of Reckoning. 53 Our provision for you will never be exhausted. 54 This (for the virtuous); but for the transgressors the evil destination, 55 Hell, where they will be roasted. An evil place to dwell! 56 This - let them taste it: scalding water and corruption. 57 and, coupled with it, further [suffering] of a similar nature. 58 [Its inhabitants will say], "This is a company bursting in with you. No welcome for them. Indeed, they will burn in the Fire." 59 [And] they [who had been seduced] will exclaim: "Nay, but it is you! No welcome to you! It is you who have prepared this for us: and how vile a state to abide in!" 60 adding, "Our Lord, give double punishment to those who brought this upon us." 61 And they will say: "What has happened to us that we see not men whom we used to number among the bad ones? 62 [and] whom we made the target of our derision? Or are they here, and our eyes have missed them?" 63 Verily this is the very truth: the wrangling of the fellows of the Fire! 64
