S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 "What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"... but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment! 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? 9 Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
