In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those that are sent, one after the other. (The verses of the Holy Qur’an or the angels or the winds). 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cloven asunder. 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe on that day unto the beliers 15 Did We not destroy the ancients 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 For the living and the dead. 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 and as bright as a herd of yellow camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
