The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
