Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
