Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
