But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 And said: "Should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?" 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
