These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 41 In scorching wind and scalding water 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
