Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
