۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 What, do we then not die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
