The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
