When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
