The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
