Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
