The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
