The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
