In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
