The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 that hide, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
