▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No, by the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 except the people of the right hand 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 From the guilty. 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
