Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a garden sublime, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
