Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven - how it has been raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth - how it has been spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
