The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 has created man, 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
