He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attend to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
