He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
