The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 It will be a place of return 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
