Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, 5 By way of excuse or warning. 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 Then the stars will lose their light. 8 And when the heaven is cloven asunder. 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what day is it timed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients, 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you of a mean water, 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 For a known term? 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 the living and the dead? 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false; 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
