The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
