The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
