And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 "And forgive my father - he is indeed astray." 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 "Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
