And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
