Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive you your sins, and will defer you to an appointed term. Verily the term of Allah when it cometh shall not be deferred, if ye but knew. 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
