The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
