Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
