Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
