The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
