The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: If you desist not, O Lut! you shall surely be of those who are expelled. 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
