The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
