The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and so am I: 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
