The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By heaven of the constellations, 1 by the promised day, 2 And [by] the witness and what is witnessed, 3 Cursed be the makers of the pit, 4 Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel, 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 witnessing what they were doing. 7 They had no other reason for hating them except that they believed in God the mighty, worthy of praise, 8 Him, Whose is the dominion of heavens and the earth. And Allah is over everything a Witness. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 (But) for those who believe and do good works, for them there are Gardens underneath which rivers flow that is the Great Victory! 11 Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord. 12 Indeed it is He Who initiates and redoes. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 The Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 the Executor of what He wills. 16 Has not there come to you the story of the hosts, 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 This is indeed the glorious Qur'an 21 [Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate. 22
Almighty God's Truth.
