'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
