۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
