The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
