The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and warn, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
