The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
